Kitchens that stand up to rental use

No kitchen is indestructible, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can do is point you at the choices that hold up best in a let property and cost least to put right.

  • Laminate worktops earn their place. Kronodesign and Duropal laminate is scratch and moisture resistant, forgiving of tenants who do not use a chopping board, and inexpensive to replace as a single length rather than a fabricated slab. See worktops.
  • Mid-tone colours hide wear. Very dark and very pale doors both show marks. A mid grey, sage, cashmere or oak-effect finish looks clean for longer between tenancies.
  • Slab and shaker doors are easiest to clean. A flat slab door has nowhere for grease to collect; a simple shaker gives you a more traditional look with only one shadow line to wipe.
  • Standard cabinet sizes matter more than they look. A kitchen built from standard widths can be repaired with an off-the-shelf unit in five years' time. A bespoke size cannot.
  • Rigid cabinets survive handling better. Fully rigid cabinets arrive built and glued, which means fewer weak joints and a faster fit during a void.

Working around void periods

Every day a property sits empty is a day it earns nothing, so a kitchen replacement in a void is a scheduling problem as much as a supply one.

One property or a portfolio

There is no minimum. A single flat is a perfectly normal enquiry. What is the most durable worktop for a rental kitchen?
Laminate is usually the right answer for a let property: it resists scratches and moisture well, costs far less than stone, and a damaged length can be swapped out on its own. We supply Kronodesign and Duropal laminate in postformed and square-edged profiles.
Can I just replace the doors and worktop?
Yes, if the carcasses are sound and a standard size. It is the cheapest way to reset a tired rental kitchen. Send us photos and the measurements of the existing units and we will tell you honestly whether it will work.
Do you supply single units?
Yes. One base unit, one wall unit or one door is a normal order. Standard sizes across your properties makes this much easier later on.

How quickly can you deliver during a void?
